(The Center Square) – Democrats lead Republicans by 20 points in a new statewide poll of likely Virginia voters ahead of November’s congressional elections.
State Navigate’s survey, published Thursday, found 59% favored a Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, compared with 39% who favored a Republican. Another 3% were undecided.
Percentages may not total 100% because of rounding.
Respondents chose between parties’ candidates rather than named candidates. The statewide results do not establish who leads in individual congressional districts.
Among respondents who said they had already voted, Democrats led 72%-28%. Among those who had not voted, 51% favored Democrats and 44% favored Republicans.
Overall, 36% of likely voters said they had cast a ballot, compared with 28% in State Navigate’s survey conducted on the same dates last year.
Voters with at least a four-year college degree favored Democrats 71%-27%. Those without a four-year degree favored Republicans 51%-45%.
President Donald Trump received 35% approval and 64% disapproval for his job performance among likely voters surveyed.
State Navigate conducted the poll Oct. 17-20 by recontacting people who had participated in six earlier Virginia surveys. Those included two statewide polls and three House of Delegates district polls from October 2025, along with an April referendum poll.
State Navigate identifies its sample as 863 likely voters and reports a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.
Early in-person voting ends Oct. 31. Election Day is Nov. 3.
