Fredericksburg, Va. – More than 17,000 member-owners of Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) took part in the democratic process of choosing representatives for the utility’s Board of Directors during the 2025 Annual Meeting, held Aug. 20.
Three incumbents were re-elected by their peers:
- Region I: Michael Lindsay, representing Frederick and Shenandoah counties, the portion of Page County located north of U.S. Route 211, and the parts of Warren and Rappahannock counties west of Route 522.
- Region VI: Linda Gray, representing Caroline County.
- Region VII: Mark Wood, representing Louisa County.
“REC prides itself on being a democratic organization,” said Casey Hollins, Managing Director of Communications and Public Relations. “Thousands of members participated in the proxy designation process to elect other REC member-owners to represent the best interest of the membership as a whole on the Cooperative’s Board of Directors.”
In addition to board elections, REC President and CEO John Hewa and Board Chairman Christopher Shipe shared highlights from 2024 and outlined priorities for the remainder of 2025 and beyond.
The Cooperative serves more than 182,000 connections across parts of 22 Virginia counties, maintaining more than 18,000 miles of power lines that stretch from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Chesapeake Bay. REC’s general office is located in Fredericksburg.
