Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, May 31, 2026, on Interstate 66 westbound at the 10-mile marker in Warren County.
A 2006 Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycle was heading west on Interstate 66 when it ran off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail and caught fire. The motorcyclist was thrown from the motorcycle by the impact.
The driver of the motorcycle, Tyler C. Santos, 34, of Woodbridge, Va., suffered serious injuries. Santos was transported to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Santos was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
